Director Hank Rogerson's film follows the SHAKESPEARE BEHIND BARS theatre troupe over the course of a year.
The troupe is led by volunteer director Curt Tofteland, who began working with Luther Luckett inmates in the mid-1990s. The prisoners cast
themselves in roles that reflect their own histories, and the true stories of their crimes are interwoven with their production
of The Tempest. The inmates explore the characters that they portray—while confronting their own troubled lives.
